Society tells us that countless fad diets are the ticket to weightloss. Oprah taught the American culture that we shouldn’t eat after 7pm, and we believed her (regardless of the fact that Oprah is very overweight, y’all!!). Our parents raised us to clean our plates to be respectful… and because there are starving children in Africa. Our rational minds tell us that eating less is the clear answer. ALL of these things – and others – have created our natural intuition in regards to eating.
Well, OF COURSE you’re confused!! And that alone is a reason NOT to rely on your intuition when it comes to nutrition.
So how to do it right? THERE IS NO BLUEPRINT!!! Every “body” is different, BUT every “body” prefers predictable normalcy. Its systems simply perform better with consistency. So these two steps are the BEST practice for eating with intention and not intuition:
- PLAN a nutrition regimen that is consistent, sustainable, and macro-based (calculated and weighed), and then STAY with it for 4-6 weeks – WITHOUT deviating!!! That eliminates variables.
- Based on results, you can then (a) tweak the macros and intake level to change the outcome, and (b)add in a scheduled refeed at the end or as necessary to boost metabolic results.
