The plain and simple reason that people fail at weightloss is because “WEIGHTLOSS” should never be your goal!!
I know what you’re thinking… but wait, I want to lose weight… so why shouldn’t that be my goal? Because a “goal number” on a scale is a destination-focused goal. It focuses on the finish line. Stats show that 83% of people who choose a weightloss goal that they have achieved ultimately go BACK to their former “problem weight” within 18 months time, and often even heavier.
Instead, focus on small journey goals (I’m going to be perfect on my nutrition today, then for two days, then for a week, etc… I’m going to increase my 20-rep weight for exercises A, B, & C today… I’m going to politely tell at least two people “no” this week when a request is made that threatens my health schedule…).
When you create HEALTHY journey goals like these and others, the result is a system of habits that create a lifestyle that is focused on “I’m going to (choose me)” instead of “I can’t eat that” or “I (begrudgingly) have to do this (workout)”. The result is empowerment and self discipline, and TRUST that the scale will take care of itself when those habits are in place!
